| My name is Kris, I am a certified doula from Southwestern Michigan. I work in the greater Michiana area, and am willing to do some reasonable travelling. I am 33 years old, have been married for 11 of the best years of my life, and have 3 wonderful kids, ages 4, 6 and 8. My family is (thankfully) very supportive of my passions:) My birth philosophy is that you cannot put birth in a box. Just as no 2 mothers are alike, no 2 births are either. I believe that supporting and educating women helps them find their voice in the birthing world. I believe that birth is a normal, natural process that a womens body goes through beautifully, if we stay out of the way. I would be honored to be able to help you try to achieve the birth that you are looking for. I hope to share with you along your journey as you make decisions about your birth.

I had already had all 3 of my kids before the thought of becomming a doula was ever presented to me. One of the 1st things I ever read about doula's said that most people become doulas either because they've had great births and they want to help other women have that same experience, or because they've had horrible births and they want to try and prevent that from happening to other women.
Unfortunately I fall into the latter catergory. When someone suggested to me that I should look into becomming a doula I knew it was the right thing for me to do. I love women, I love babies, I think the whole process of birth is just amazing. I've learned so much through the training, some of it not so easy to take, considering the births that I've had. I've had to let go of what could have been and work to make things better for the women around me.
